MMD DAV College, Giddarbaha

The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1988 at Senior Secondary level with the efforts of Principal Mrs. Raj Garg, with the objective of imparting quality education in the field of Mathematics to the female students of this remote area. Earlier they had to travel outstation colleges to attain higher education in Mathematics. Later in 1990 the subject was upgraded for Under Graduate students. Till 1995 the department was run sequentially by Ad-hoc. faculty Mr. Raj Kumar Ahuja, Mr. Meg Raj Goyal, Mr. Gurtej Singh, Ms. Madhu, Mr. Balwinder Kumar. In 1995 the first regular appointment was made to give stability to the department.

To enable students to acquire Mathematical Skills and understanding for sharpening of their mental skills.
To contribute to the Society through quality education in Mathematics; to become a valuable resource for society especially for the education system.
Mission
To transform young people as competent and motivated professionals with sound theoretical and practical knowledge.
To produce students with strong foundation to join furher Higher Studies.
To prepare students to qualify for various national level competitive examinations.
To create logical and rational thinking among students by giving the basic and thorough knowledge of topics in syllabi to enable them to grow in their chosen professions.
To make the students responsible citizens by inculcating human values among them
