Home science integrates the application of various sciences and humanities to improve human environment, family nutrition, management of resources and child development. The vision of our Department is to train young girls to build up ideal families and be change makers.The home science aims at achieving and maintaining the welfare and well being of home, social and family life in an ever changing society. Home management requires skill and scientific knowledge which does not limit itself to activities within the home but also forms the basis of a challenging profession.
Vision:
The department envisions to gives the young women an insight into the practical, scientific, economic, social aspects of running a home and also mind set to work out solutions to problems encountered in the lives. The department aims to train the students to meet the needs of rural and urban families as contributors to food production, environment conservation and enhancement of human resources.
Mission:
The overall mission of the Home Science Department is:
*To empower and develop an appreciation for rural life in a holistic manner.
*To achieve an efficient use of human and non human resources in everyday living.
*To educate Rural Women in several aspects.
*To acquire Stress management strategies.
* To provide knowledge of child development, needs of special children and help them to impart this knowledge to less privileged ones.
*To develop functional scientific attitude towards extension education and to transfer it for family living.
*To make them know nutritional benefits of different target groups.
*To develop an eye on decoration, fashion designing and Garment Making.
*To know about the values and goals of marriage in family life and to develop better human relations.
*To enhance entrepreneur skills for professional careers.
